Rohingya are Muslim minorities who lived in Myanmar for centuries. Their citizenship has been denied by the official authority of Buddhist Myanmar which then makes them the largest stateless population in the world.
Not only their citizenship is not recognized, but our Muslim brothers and sisters also face extreme discrimination and violation.
As a result of the massive wave of violence that erupted in Myanmar’s Rakhine State in August 2017, over 700,000 people fled the country to seek refuge in Bangladesh and neighboring countries. However, some choose to remain in Myanmar, where approximately 500,000 were reported internally displaced where 370,000 people were recorded at the end of 2020, and an additional 189,000 newly displaced reported in 2021.
They might be disregarded by the country but they are not being ignored us!
This Ramadan we will come together to support our mistreated brothers and sisters in Myanmar by providing iftar meals for the whole Ramadan.
