The Word of Allah S.W.T:
“And (remember), Allah gives sustenance to whomever He wills without measure”
(Surah al-Baqarah, Verse 212)
Afghanistan is a landlocked country located in South Asia and Central Asia. It has a population of approximately 31 million people, making it the 42nd most populous country in the world. Muslims in Afghanistan are about 99 percent. Therefore, of course, the residents there will also be celebrating Eid al-Adha soon.
However, according to a report issued by the United Nations (UN), almost 95% of the population in Afghanistan is facing a food crisis, the price of goods has risen sharply, and a humanitarian crisis.
This causes the people of Afghanistan to not have enough food supply and they are willing to buy anything that can be eaten because they do not have enough money. Therefore, they are willing to buy expired bread to fill their empty stomachs in order to continue living. Furthermore, many one-year-olds weigh as much as six-month-olds.
We should join hands to ensure that they can feel some comfort to continue life and to take care of the welfare of the people of Afghanistan. So, this year’s Eid al-Adha, let us share our sustenance with the less fortunate with a piece of beef. Because, in performing sacrificial worship, God wants the best from us, which is to provide benefits to the most needy. Although this aid is not enough to deal with the challenges ahead, it is important that we ensure that the people of Afghanistan remain alive and healthy so that it does not get worse.
