Meet Asmida, a bright and resilient young girl from Myanmar. Born on 1 January 2016, she entered a world full of uncertainty. Today, Asmida’s life is filled with both tragedy and hope. We invite you to be a part of her story and make a meaningful difference in her life.

Asmida’s life took a devastating turn when she lost her father, Nurul Amin, to a fatal bout of dengue fever on 8 January 2021. Left without a main breadwinner, her family found themselves in a vulnerable situation, struggling to make ends meet. Her mother, Rawsan Jaman, stepped in as guardian and sole source of support for Asmida and her two siblings.

Rawsan Jaman’s love and devotion to her children is a beacon of hope in the midst of adversity. Asmida’s mother is determined to provide the best possible future for her children despite the difficult circumstances in Rohingya Refugee Camp 1, Kotupang, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. She relies solely on donations from UNHCR, which amount to just 500 taka, to keep the family afloat.

Despite her hardships, Asmida is a young girl with dreams and aspirations. She is currently attending Nurani Class 1 at the refugee camp school. Education is her ticket to a better future, a chance to break the cycle of poverty and a path to a brighter future.
