In the heart of the Rohingya Refugee camp 1, Kotupalong, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, a young boy named Mohammed Rafique is nurturing dreams against all odds. Born on 1st January 2016 in Myanmar, Rafique’s life took a tragic turn when he lost his father, Omar Faruk, to a deadly bout of diarrhea on 8th August 2018. Left with his mother, Amina Khatun, and three siblings, the family’s world was shaken to its core. The responsibility of providing for her children now rests heavily on Amina’s shoulders. Yet, in the face of adversity, Rafique continues to shine as a beacon of hope.
Rafique, at just seven years old, is a student at Maktab Grade 1 in the refugee camp. His dedication to learning is unwavering, despite the limited resources and challenges that come with life in the camp. He dreams of becoming a doctor one day, determined to help others and alleviate suffering, inspired by the loss of his father.
Amina Khatun, Rafique’s mother, is the sole guardian and provider for her four children. Life in the refugee camp has been fraught with difficulties. Their only source of sustenance is the donation given by UNHCR, amounting to 500 Bangladeshi Taka. This is barely enough to cover their monthly food expenses of 600 Taka, leaving them in a constant state of financial hardship.
Your generous support can be the turning point in Rafique’s life. By contributing to this crowdfunding campaign, you will empower him to chase his dreams, break free from the cycle of poverty, and work towards a brighter future.
