Meet Umar Abdulmalik Ningi, a courageous young boy born on 17th August 2008 in Ningi, Nigeria. Umar is not your ordinary child; he’s faced unimaginable challenges in his young life, but his determination to succeed shines brighter than any obstacle. Umar was born into a large family of 13 siblings, where every day was a struggle to make ends meet. Tragedy struck the family on 16th April 2016 when Umar’s father, Abdulmalik Muhammad, passed away due to chronic liver disease. Umar’s world was shattered, and his dreams hung in the balance.

Left with a grieving mother, Zulaihat Abdulmalik, and a guardian, Khalid Abdulmalik, who happens to be his elder brother, they faced a daunting task. Khalid, a humble laborer, made an incredible sacrifice to ensure that Umar and his siblings could continue their education and pursue their dreams.

Life has been a relentless challenge for Umar and his family. The burden of supporting the household, paying school fees, and meeting basic needs falls squarely on Khalid’s shoulders. However, Khalid’s income is barely enough to cover the essential expenses, often leading to difficult choices, such as sending the children back home when they can’t pay their school fees on time.

Umar, a diligent and ambitious student, is currently in Form 4 at High Tech Academy Secondary School. Despite the odds stacked against him, he excels academically and dreams of a brighter future. His education is his ticket out of the cycle of poverty that has plagued his family for generations.
