Every adult Muslim who has more food than they require is required to pay Zakat Al-Fitr (fitrana).
It can be paid throughout Ramadan, but it must be performed before the end of Eid Al-Fitr prayers at the latest, so that it can be distributed to those in need on time, and those who are less fortunate can also enjoy the Eid day!
Adults and the head of the family are responsible, and the minimum quantity due is the equivalent of 2kg of wheat flour, rice, or other staple food items per household member, including dependents.
Paying Zakat al-Fitr completes your Ramadan worship and serves as a purification for your fasts. It is said to cleanse the fasts of any negative words or actions that may have hindered your reward. By paying Zakat al-Fitr, you also could ensure that someone in need has a good meal on Eid.
Share your blessings with the unfortunate, Pay your zakt today!
